Flying from Manchester to Paris: tips and information for your trip
Your flight from Manchester to Paris can bring you to the “City of Love” in a fast and convenient flight. Bring some time, because the list of must-see landmarks is a very long one: The Eiffel Tower, Arc de Triomphe, Notre Dame, Panthéon, Pont Neuf and Sacré-Cœur de Montmartre, and these are only the most famous.
Art in Paris
The best way to get around town is the famous underground of Paris, the Metro. Paris has so much to offer for sightseeing that the spectacular Metro stations are often overlooked. The station Arts et Métiers looks as if Jules Verne had his hand in the design, while the stations Abbesses and Porte Dauphine still have their original Art Nouveau Entrances. A stroll on the Champs-Élysées, the main boulevard of Paris with the Arc de Triomphe on its end, is for many the highlight of a visit to Paris. A walk along the riverbanks of the Seine River or over the famous Montmartre will give you an idea of the splendour of Paris. The Eiffel Tower, the most famous landmark of Paris and the first structure in history that was higher than the Great Pyramid, is usually very crowded. To avoid crowds of noisy tourists, the Louvre might be the wrong place. The mighty museum is a spectacular collection of human art, with the “Mona Lisa” by Leonardo da Vinci as the superstar, and his and his lesser known “Virgin and Child with St. Anne” as a bonus.
Paris for the senses
Avoiding massive crowds is possible in lesser-known attractions. The Promenade plantée is such a jewel: on an abandoned elevated railway the city installed an urban walking track and planted trees and other plants up there. You can also find piece and beauty on one of the most famous graveyards in the world, Père Lachaise. You can walk around the 19th century burial ground and visit the graves of Edith Piaf, Yves Montand, Maria Callas, Frederic Chopin, Jim Morrison, Oscar Wilde and Marcel Proust. It’s easy to understand that after so much art, culture and sightseeing you are hungry, so treat yourself to the best food in the world. Thousands of excellent restaurants with highly decorated chefs wait to serve to you their culinary works of Haute Cuisine, accompanied by the fine wines from Bordeaux, Médoc or Beaujolais. Enjoy your stay in Paris and don’t forget your flight back home to Manchester!
