Find out what happens to your seat reservation if your flight is cancelled or you have to rebook it.
If your flight gets cancelled entirely, or you get rebooked onto another flight on which there is no equivalent seat available in your seat category (e.g. Extra Legroom), you are eligible for a refund of your seat reservation fee. If you get rebooked onto another flight on which there is an equivalent seat available in your seat category (e.g. Extra Legroom), your initial seat reservation remains valid and no refund is needed.
In the event of a refund, your reservation fee will be reimbursed onto your initial payment method (e.g. credit card). If the refund is made automatically, you will receive an email confirmation. The airline you booked with is responsible for the refund. If you booked via a third party (e.g. a travel agency), please contact them directly
Please note that seat reservations cannot be refunded at the airport or on board.
If your seat reservation changes, the following cancellation and refund conditions apply:
In the event of an operational change (e.g. change of aircraft type, change of itinerary), we will try to rebook you to the same seat category that you have previously booked. However, the previously selected seat number may vary. If we are unable to rebook you to the same seat category, the seat reservation is refundable.
If you have made a seat reservation for your flight and would like to change your seat, you can do this via “My Bookings”. The following rules apply:
You can change to a lower seat category free of charge. The price difference is non-refundable, but remains in your reservation and can be used for a later rebooking to a higher seat category (e.g. back to the original seat category, if available, or to a higher seat category).
You can rebook to a higher seat category by paying the price difference.
If you decide to cancel your flight, your advance seat reservation is not eligible for a refund.
If you change or rebook your flight and the route remains the same, you can transfer your seat reservation to the new flight. If the original seat category is not available on the new flight,
- you can rebook to a lower seat category free of charge. The price difference is non-refundable, but remains in your reservation and can be used for a later rebooking to a higher seat category (e.g. to the originally booked seat category if it becomes available again).
- you can rebook to a higher seat category by paying the price difference.
If you change your flight route, the amount paid for the seat reservation will not be refunded and also cannot be credited towards a new seat reservation and you may incur higher costs.
If you book an advance seat reservation before upgrading and a seat reservation is included in the new travel class, you are eligible for a refund of your advance seat reservation fee. Free upgrades that we offer as a gesture of goodwill or for operational reasons do not entitle you to a refund of a previously purchased seat reservation.
Please note that while rebooking your flex fare ticket is possible, it might result in additional costs (such as the fare difference). After rebooking, you can reserve a new seat in the same seat category free of charge, subject to availability.
