Frequently Asked Questions about Lufthansa Gift Card

Gift Cards are only available on the ​www.lufthansa.com website.

Payment can be made using a MasterCard, VISA or American Express credit card, provided that the card is equipped with 3D Secure.

The Gift Card is issued in EUR.

You can choose any amount between EUR 10 and EUR 1,000.

The Gift Card is valid from the time of issue until three years after the end of the year in which it was issued (e.g. issue date 21.8.2021 with validity until 31.12.2024).

Once you have purchased the Gift Card you will receive a confirmation email to the email address you have provided. This email contains the Gift Card code, a printable version of the Gift Card with the code and a payment confirmation with your personal details.

You can cancel the purchase of a completely unused Gift Card within 14 days of receiving the confirmation email without giving any reason. Send your cancellation to the Lufthansa Service Centre, stating the Gift Card code.

Withdraw purchase

The Gift Card can only be redeemed on the ​www.lufthansa.com website.

You can redeem the Gift Card for tickets with a Lufthansa flight number and for additional services such as advance seat reservations, additional baggage, etc. The applicable price must be shown in euros.

If additional services are offered as part of the flight booking, such as advance seat reservations or additional baggage, the Gift Card can also be redeemed for these additional services during the booking process. The price of the ticket and additional services must be shown in euros.

You may not redeem a Gift Card for an additional service on its own.

Simply select ‘Gift Card’ as the payment method during the booking process, and enter your Gift Card code.

No, you cannot use a Gift Card retroactively, it can only be used for new bookings.

You can use a maximum of three Gift Card codes per booking.

Any person who knows the Gift Card code can redeem it.

You should therefore keep your Gift Card and/or code safe and secure from unauthorised access.

You can pay for the difference using a MasterCard, VISA or American Express credit card, provided that the card is equipped with 3D Secure.

Any remaining amount is retained on the Gift Card and can be used for additional flight bookings within the validity period.

The portion of the ticket that was paid for using a Gift Card will automatically be refunded to the Gift Card, and can be used again within the validity period of the Gift Card.

You should therefore keep the Gift Card code until you have redeemed the full value of the Gift Card.
