There are no restrictions on booking flights. However, please take visa processing times into account, if applicable, as these may affect your travel dates.

Flight booking and eligibility

Currently, the Lufthansa Stopover Program is available to passengers whose journey begins in the following countries:

  • Singapore (SIN)
  • United States

We are continuously expanding the program to include more routes. When you enter your departure point and destination at lufthansa.com, eligible routes will automatically display a stopover option.

When you enter an eligible route into the flight search at lufthansa.com, a window will appear indicating that the Lufthansa Stopover Program is available. You can then add a stopover in Munich directly during the booking process and choose the duration and direction (outbound or return flight).

Currently, a stopover can only be booked via the Lufthansa website.

Yes, you can add a stopover to an existing booking (on eligible routes) as part of a rebooking process. Please contact our Service Center to arrange the rebooking (Help & Contact | Lufthansa | Lufthansa). Please note that rebooking fees may apply, depending on your fare.

No, group bookings with a stopover option are not available.

The Stopover Program is only available for flights operated by the Lufthansa Group airlines. 

Yes, you can earn miles on stopover flights. However, you cannot redeem Miles & More Points on stopover flights. You can use the “Cash & Miles” option to redeem miles. This option will be clearly displayed during the flight booking process.

Stopover offers are not available to passengers traveling on award flights or certain special offers.

Costs and payment for stopover flights

Depending on the connecting airport, additional costs may apply.

Ticket prices fluctuate depending on availability, so changing the dates of the second leg of your flight may affect the overall ticket price.

Booking tourist activities and special offers

Once you have booked your flight, you will receive an email within 24 hours with a link to the various offers available via the tourism services platform.

Please note:

  • During your flight booking, you must give your express consent to receive this email from Lufthansa.
  • Some offers are only available at certain times of the year, so we recommend you make enquiries shortly before your travel date.
  • Lufthansa acts solely as an intermediary between you and our tourism partners. Lufthansa is not the provider of these services and assumes no liability or guarantee for their terms and conditions, availability, or prices. Only the relevant terms and conditions of the individual partner apply.

If you have not received a confirmation email within 24 hours of your booking, you may not have provided the required consent during the booking process. Please also check your spam folder. Discounts and partner offers can be accessed directly via the tourism services platform, where you will find information on all participating venues, attractions, and transport services.

You can choose from a variety of options, including shopping, accommodation, cultural activities, and excursions. You can find the complete list at the top of this page or on the tourism services platform which you can access after booking your flight.

Lufthansa is only responsible for the administration of your stopover flight ticket and acts as an intermediary for our tourism partners. All activities and accommodation must be booked directly through the tourism partners listed above via the tourism services platform.

You can book them in advance or when you arrive. Our special offers are available via the platform both before and during your trip, so that you can plan in advance or decide on the spot during your stopover. Please bear in mind that some offers and services are seasonal and subject to availability.

Yes, you can adjust your stopover as part of a rebooking process. It can either be shortened to a minimum stay of 24 hours or extended to a maximum of seven days. Please contact the Lufthansa Service Center (​Help & Contact | Lufthansa | Lufthansa). All booked tourist activities and offers should be confirmed with the respective partner prior to finalizing any flight changes.

If your flight is changed or rebooked and you wish to keep your Stopover option, please contact our customer service team for assistance in updating your flight booking (​Help & Contact | Lufthansa | Lufthansa). If you have booked activities or special offers, please contact the respective tourism partner directly in order to discuss your options in the event of flight disruptions.

If a delay or cancellation compromises your booked tourist activity, please contact the partner directly (contact details can be found on the tourism services platform and in your booking confirmation for the respective tourist activity).

The refund and cancellation terms and conditions are stipulated by the individual partners. Please contact them via the tourism services platform or contact them directly for assistance.

Travel and practical information

If you are planning a stopover in Munich, you may require a visa to enter Germany. It is important that you check the visa and entry requirements for both Germany and your final destination before you travel.

Your checked baggage won’t be forwarded automatically to your final destination, so you will need to collect your baggage during your stopover in Munich.

Airport transfers are not automatically included. However, some transportation options are available on the tourism services platform.

Information about the city of Munich

Munich Airport (MUC) is located 28 km (approximately 17 miles) northeast of Munich city center. It is well connected to the city by public transport, taxi services, and rental cars.

The journey from Munich Airport to the city center varies depending on your chosen mode of transport:

  • S-Bahn (train): approximately 40–45 minutes via lines S1 or S8, which run every 10–20 minutes. This is often the most convenient option, connecting the airport directly to Munich Hauptbahnhof (central station).
  • Taxi or ride-share option: around 35–45 minutes, depending on traffic. Offers door-to-door convenience.
  • Airport shuttle or private transfer: usually 35–50 minutes, depending on the provider and traffic. A comfortable choice for groups or families with luggage.

Yes. Munich Airport provides luggage storage and left-luggage services in both Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 for short-term or long-term storage. This makes it easier for stopover passengers to explore the city without having to carry heavy bags around with them.
