Essentials: Lufthansa Allegris
Five facts about Lufthansa Allegris, the new premium experience on long-haul routes, that will surprise you
1) Let that sink in: The mattresses in Lufthansa Allegris' Business and First Class come up trumps with a very special feature – a "shoulder sink-in" function. This means that the shoulder can sink in slightly, which relieves the necks and spines of side sleepers. Speaking of sleep: Business Class has seats that can be transformed into an extra-long bed (2.20 meters!) so even "really" tall passengers can stretch out their legs while napping. Basketball superstar Dirk Nowitzki (2.12 meters) has already tried it out and approved of it.

2) Let there be light: Less jet lag after a long-haul flight? Sounds like a dream - which becomes reality with Lufthansa Allegris. An innovative lighting system from Hamburg start-up jetlite is used in the cabin and in the suites. With the help of coordinated lighting scenarios, travelers are prepared for a new time zone during the flight: Warm white light, as at sunset, relaxes and helps you fall asleep, while cool white light, as at the start of the day, makes you active and alert.

3) Astronomical! We are investing a lot in the comfort of our guests. Lufthansa Allegris is part of the largest product and service improvement initiative in Lufthansa's history, with a total investment of almost 3 billion euros by 2025. We are installing over 31,600 new Lufthansa Allegris seats in the fleet, which is roughly equivalent to the population of a medium-sized German city. A long-haul seat covers an average of around 40 million kilometers. We did the math: All Lufthansa Allegris seats together will therefore fly 1.26 trillion kilometers around the world. For comparison, the distance from the earth to the sun is "only" 150 million kilometers.

4) Excellent! It is not only our guests who are impressed by the feel-good atmosphere of the Lufthansa Allegris cabin, but also design professionals. Lufthansa Allegris has already received three prestigious international design awards: The "German Design Award Gold", the "International Design Award Gold", and the "Red Dot Award for Product Design".

5) Teamwork: In order to make Lufthansa Allegris a reality, many experts from various disciplines have put their heart and soul into its development over the past few years – for example in design, technology, and crew training. That was a lot of work, so it is fitting that the first Allegris flight took off from Munich at 4:14 PM on Labor Day, May 1, 2024. Its destination: Vancouver on the west coast of Canada.
