Check-in and gate areas

You can issue your boarding pass from 30 hours before departure conveniently and quickly in the Lufthansa app or online. Save your boarding pass in the Lufthansa app to be kept informed about changes concerning your flight. At the airport you can issue your boarding pass at a check-in machine. Your departure gate can be found on your boarding pass, in the Lufthansa app and on display boards at the airport.

First Class Check-in Area

Look forward to exclusive comfort, personal service, and special highlights in the First Class Check-in Area in Terminal 1, Hall A - including direct access from parking area P31, a spacious changing room, and elegant seating options that are also ideal for short meetings in the public area. Efficient baggage drop-off and short distances to the gates will make your stay even more enjoyable. First Class passengers, HON Circle Members, Senators, and Star Alliance Gold status customers will enjoy a discreet and relaxed start to their journey here.

Bag drop-off

The Lufthansa bag drop-off areas are located in Terminal 1 in Departures Halls A and B. Travellers arriving by Lufthansa Express Rail and Lufthansa Express Bus can drop off their baggage in the AIRail Terminal

At Frankfurt Airport you can drop off your baggage yourself at a self-service bag drop kiosk. To do this, scan your boarding pass at a bag tag machine and attach this to the long side of your baggage item.

Location of the bag drop-off: Terminal 1, Departures Halls A and B in Zones 12 and 13. Families booked in Economy Class and Premium Economy Class can also check in their baggage here. Opening times: 05:00–21:00 hours

Exclusive premium self-service bag drop kiosks for First Class and Business Class passengers as well as status customers are provided in Departures Hall A in Zone 12 at counters 261 to 263. The Priority/HON imprint is made on the bag tag so that your baggage is given priority unloading at your destination airport.

Bag drop-off for bulky baggage

Surfboards, fully foldable travel pushchairs, and backpacks need to be checked in separately at the bulky-baggage counter. You will be told at the airport whether your item of baggage counts as bulky baggage.

Please check in your bulky baggage only after you have checked in your regular baggage.

Location of bulky baggage drop-off: Terminal 1 between Departures Halls A and B (between Zones 12 and 13), counters 301–304. Pushchairs and child seats can be dropped off in Departures Hall B at counter 314. Opening times: 05:00–21:00 hours

Passengers traveling to the USA must have their passport and boarding pass checked before checking in their baggage. Baggage check-in for Economy and Premium Economy Class passengers traveling to the USA is therefore only possible in Zone 13.

Time slot for security check

Make your trip as pleasant as possible and book a time slot for your security check in advance. You can find out whether your airport offers this service here.
