General questions about booking
Here we answer your general questions about the cooperation between Lufthansa and Eurowings.
You can book your flight with Lufthansa, then you will receive a Lufthansa flight ticket, which is valid for the corresponding Eurowings flight. If you book your ticket with Eurowings, you will receive a Eurowings ticket.
At present, you can choose between Economy Class (equivalent to the SMART fare with Eurowings) and Premium Economy Class (equivalent to the BEST fare with Eurowings). However, Premium Economy Class can only be booked via Lufthansa and not via Eurowings. With the introduction of the 2020 summer timetable, Business Class will be available to book via Lufthansa and is the equivalent of Eurowings’ BIZclass.
Check-in for Lufthansa flights in cooperation with Eurowings is only possible with Lufthansa. You can check in online, via mobile or at the check-in machines or check-in counters at the airport.
For example, if you are travelling from Munich to Bangkok, you must check in with Lufthansa at Munich Airport’s Terminal 2 and not with Eurowings in Terminal 1. This is also the case if you are checking in with a Eurowings or code-share flight number.
The main difference is the in-flight service, which matches the Eurowings’ standard. The travel classes are described below.
Economy Class is the equivalent of the Eurowings SMART fare. This mean that you can enjoy a hot and a cold meal, served with beverages. Water is also available outside mealtimes, while all other beverages can be purchased. Other amenities, such as a blanket and headphones, are also available for a charge. Your seat is a standard seat, which is comparable to the seats in Lufthansa Economy Class in terms of its dimensions. One piece of baggage, weighing up to 23 kg, is included and you are guaranteed to be able to take your carry-on baggage with you into the cabin.
Premium Economy Class is the equivalent of the Eurowings BEST fare. On board you can look forward to a hot meal and a hot snack. Beverages are also served outside mealtimes. However, unlike Lufthansa Premium Economy Class, meals are not served on china tableware. Your seat is the equivalent of a comfort seat with more legroom and a backrest that can be adjusted to a generous extent. Two pieces of baggage, each weighing up to 23 kg, are included, and in addition you can take two pieces of carry-on bagage into the cabin with you, and a carry-on baggage locker is reserved in advance for you.
Business Class is the equivalent of the Eurowings BIZclass. It includes lounge access at selected airports. After priority boarding, you can enjoy an in-flight menu comprising several individual courses as well as a wide selection of beverages. And afterwards, if you would like to relax, your seat can be converted into a two-metre-long lie-flat bed. Two pieces of baggage, each weighing up to 32 kg, are included and you can also take two pieces of carry-on baggage into the cabin with you.
Yes, a wide range of entertainment is available to you. You have a choice between cinema films, games, music tracks and audio books. The headphones required are included in Premium Economy and Business Class, and available in Economy Class for a fee.
