Modern technologies ‘made by Fraport’

There is a huge amount to discover at Germany’s largest airport, not least because the airport operator, Fraport, is continually extending and improving its services for you. Find out about the new services and current events at Frankfurt Airport.

Free Round-the-clock Internet Access: Germany’s First Major Airport with Free 24-hour Wi-Fi

Fraport AG (the Frankfurt Airport company) is expanding its free Wi-Fi access at Germany’s largest airport from 60 minutes to 24 hours. Frankfurt Airport’s (FRA) round-the-clock free Wi-Fi service is available immediately. More than 300 Wi-Fi access points (particularly in the departures areas) facilitate Internet access in the terminals. To use the free Wi-Fi service, passengers and visitors simply log on via the “HotSpot” Internet portal of Deutsche Telekom. After the first 24 hours, passengers can extend their free Wi-Fi access for a further 24 hours with a just few clicks – ideal for travelers having a longer stopover at Frankfurt Airport.

‘Infokiosks’ with boarding-pass scanners provide individual passenger information.

Passengers, those collecting passengers and visitors will be able to find their way around Frankfurt Airport more easily in the future: Fraport AG are currently installing around 90 new information kiosks (known as ‘infokiosks’) in both terminals; these will be linked to the airport’s central information system and allow quick and easy access to all relevant flight information.

This new generation of information kiosks is equipped with barcode scanners. When passengers hold their boarding pass in front of the reader, the screen automatically shows them the quickest way to their gate on a plan of the terminal and also informs them, for example, about the current status of their flight or any changes to the departure time or gate. Touch-screen controls make the kiosks very easy to use and the display height is adjustable to suit the height of the user.
