What I’ve Learned in Miami: My Experiences

I am particularly fascinated by the diversity here. Miami and Miami Beach – they are the perfect mix of a fast-paced, multicultural metropolis, incomparable architecture, white beaches, and turquoise waters. 

At first, people said that the many different ethnicities and nationalities – Colombians, Cubans, and Asians – kept to themselves. But that wasn’t true at all, as I quickly learned after moving here. Everyone welcomed me with open arms, regardless of my background.  

Miami’s architecture is rich with daring residential towers, magical parks, and Mediterranean palaces. I am particularly impressed by the Porsche Design Tower on Sunny Isles Beach, where a special elevator brings the car to a parking space right next to the apartment. It’s terribly nouveau riche, but I love the idea.  

Miami is also known as the “capital of Latin America”. Here I get to know the food and culture of South and Central America. Above all the music enriches my life: Ozuna, Alejandro Fernandez, Celia Cruz, and Juanes, to name just a few.  

The vibrant street art district of Wynwood, the Design District, and the new hotspot of Brickell are synonymous with world-class art, restaurants, and great shopping. I also show my visitors the Vizcaya Gardens, which are similar to the grounds of Versailles, but with orchids and palm trees, and Peacock Park in Coconut Grove, where you quickly forget you’re in a big city. The colorful Little Havana is also on the program. And a boat ride to Nixon Beach Sandbar, which sits in the middle of the shimmering water.  

Sinan Bozkurt, a hotel specialist from Istanbul, came to Miami in 2021 to work for the lifestyle division of the Accor Group. What fascinates him most? The city’s diverse architecture.
