At the airport with children
With Lufthansa, flying becomes an enjoyable experience for the whole family that begins as soon as you arrive at the airport. At our Frankfurt and Munich hubs, in particular, families are especially well looked after before boarding.

Make airport waiting times pass more quickly
The way an airport operates fascinates children: suitcases are loaded and unloaded, fuel tankers are attached to aircraft and perhaps you’ll even get a glimpse of the pilots through the airport’s windows. That’s why we recommend you should schedule in a little more time at the airport, so that the idea of flying becomes more comprehensible and even more exciting to children. At many airports there are viewing terraces available which, in fine weather, allow even better insights into how an airport works.
If your children would prefer to play and run around, visit the play corners specifically designed for children which most airports provide. All the essential information about these can be found on the websites of your departure and destination airports.

Check-in with the family
Are you flying off on holiday with the whole family and want to find the fastest way to your departure gate? We have a few tips here to help you enjoy a relaxed start to your trip.
Free baggage allowance for children and adults
The permitted free baggage allowance is determined by the travel class and fare booked and by the passenger’s frequent flyer status. Use our baggage calculator to find out all the rules on free baggage for your flight.
Good to know
As carry-on baggage, you can take one piece of baggage such as a trolley, and also a compactly foldable baby buggy packed in a cover (dimensions max. 55 x 40 x 23 cm), or two in Business or First Class.
Separate children’s area in the Business Lounge
Children can relax and have fun here! Lufthansa has created its first children’s area in the Frankfurt Business Lounge at Gate B48. Here young passengers may look forward to a play corner and playpen, to drawing tables, games consoles and an Internet PC for kids. A children’s cinema and comfortable beanbags to sit on also ensure lots of fun is had even before the flight.
Access to the lounge is available to First and Business Class passengers, HON Circle Members, Senators, Frequent Travellers and holders of Star Gold cards.
