9 AM: Coffee at NOC Coffee

If you’re looking for good coffee in Hong Kong, you only have to look in the direction of the people carrying to-go cups from NOC Coffee. The popular coffee shop chain has 16 outlets across the city and is known for its freshly roasted coffee beans and vegetarian breakfasts. My favorite place to go in the morning is the one on Whampoa Street by the harbor. It has a fantastic view of Hong Kong’s skyline.

10 AM: Stroll Along the Promenade

Coffee in hand, I stroll along the Hung Hom Promenade overlooking the water until I reach the Avenue of Stars. Legends of Hong Kong cinema such as Jackie Chan and Wong Kar-Wai have left their handprints there. The bronze statue of Bruce Lee is a popular photo subject. The Museum of Art, the Clock Tower, and the Space Museum are all nearby.

11 AM: Bargain Hunting on Mody Road

I continue shopping on Mody Road, where there are lots of small stores and street stalls. I like to buy souvenirs there, have my sunglasses repaired, or buy new ones at a bargain price. For a more expensive shopping experience, head to nearby Nathan Road, home to international luxury brands.

1 PM: Learn About Customs at the Wong Tai Sin Temple

The colorful Wong Tai Sin Temple is a must-see! People make a pilgrimage there every day to wish each other luck and success. All you have to do is put gold leaf on a dragon figure. It is best to visit the temple as part of a tour so that the guide can translate what the fortune tellers there are predicting for the future.

3 PM: Eat Street Food at Temple Spice Crabs

Next stop: the famous Temple Street Night Market, which opens at 2 p.m. I particularly like the food at the Temple Spice Crabs stall, which is known for its large selection of seafood. However, I most like to eat the sweet and sour chicken there.

4 PM: Take a Deep Breath in Kowloon Park

In between, I like to take a break in Kowloon Park. The birds chirp in the dense greenery and you almost forget that you're in the middle of a big city.

6 PM: Ring in the Evening at the Baan Thai Restaurant

The food at the Baan Thai Restaurant on Wyndham Street is unbeatable. Unfortunately, it’s no secret, which is why it’s a good idea to make reservations in advance.

8 PM: Lights and Lasers

Every evening at 8 p.m., A Symphony of Lights – a free light and laser show – illuminates the facades of 40 high-rise buildings and skyscrapers on both sides of Victoria Harbour. It is a magnificent spectacle with musical accompaniment that lasts only 14 minutes but never ceases to amaze me.

9 PM: Listen to Live Music at The Iron Fairies

When night falls and the whole of Hong Kong lights up, it’s time for live music at The Iron Fairies bar. It is located in Central Hong Kong, a popular area for going out with many bars and restaurants. Watching a band there always puts you in a good mood!
