Our Europe fares
With the Europe fares offered by the Lufthansa Group airlines (Lufthansa, Austrian Airlines and SWISS), you are sure to find the fare that will perfectly suit your needs.
‘Light’, ‘Classic’ or ‘Flex’: you can choose between three Economy Class fares and only pay for the services and amenities that you actually want to use.
In addition, the amenities and services of Business Class are, of course, also available to you on all European flights. As previously, this includes our highest quality offer and meets the requirements of both business travellers and discerning private travellers.
The basic fare as the lowest-price option
The Light fare is ideal for you if you are only travelling with carry-on baggage and know exactly when you will be flying – because bookings cannot be changed nor tickets refunded. For a fee, you can add one piece of baggage and an advance seat reservation to your booking at any time.
The standard fare with the usual inclusive services
The Classic fare is perfect if you do not want to forego the usual services and amenities and would also like a certain degree of flexibility, because the tickets can be rebooked if necessary on payment of a fee.
The flexible fare – because travel plans change
The Flex fare is intended above all for passengers who require greater flexibility when planning their journeys. It can be rebooked and even reimbursed for a fee.
For relaxed travel and great comfort
Naturally, the comprehensive comfort of Business Class continues to be available to you. The seat next to you will be kept free and you will be able to enjoy many Business Class amenities – from lounge access to a free baggage allowance of two bags. As well as the fully flexible Business Flex fare, a restrictive Business Saver fare can also be booked on certain routes.

Frequently asked questions on the Europe fares
Find out more about the applicability of our Europe fares as well as more details.
The new fare concept applies to short and medium-haul flights to destinations within the Europe fare route network. This also includes destinations in North Africa such as Marrakesh, Casablanca, Algiers and Tunisia and Azerbaijan. You can see immediately whether your travel destination is included when you book online, as the valid fare options appear automatically when you enter your destination.
All Classic, Flex and Business fares can be combined within the Lufthansa Group and on so-called code-share flights with other airlines. (Exception: they cannot be combined with the 4U/EW BASIC fare and the Brussels Airlines Check&Go fare.) Please understand that advance seat reservations on flights which are not operated by Lufthansa, Lufthansa Regional or Austrian Airlines, especially in Economy Class, are only possible to a limited extent or not at all. Please contact the airline operating the flight.
You can earn award, status and select miles on all flights, and HON Circle miles in Business Class. With the Flex fare you can receive 50 per cent more award miles during a limited-period promotion. For HON Circle Members, Senators and Frequent Travellers as well as Star Alliance Gold members, the Light fare does not include complimentary advance seat reservation, additional free baggage allowance or free golf bag allowance. Consequently, with the Light fare, charges apply for one piece of checked baggage regardless of the passenger’s status.
An upgrade to Business Class is available from all Economy fares for a fee and up to one hour before departure. The upgrade to Business Class is valid per route segment and includes various services such as a seat with empty adjacent seat, lounge access, priority boarding and priority Fast Lane, all subject to availability. However the fare conditions of the originally booked Economy Class ticket remain with regard to rebooking, refunds and baggage conditions. Upgrades to Business Class can only be booked at selected airports for flights departing Germany, and online at lufthansa.com.
The Europe fares do not apply to connecting flights to and from intercontinental connections within a through fare. In this case in Economy Class you are automatically flying on a fare that includes one piece of baggage up to 23 kg. Passengers booking a long-haul flight from New York via Frankfurt to Stockholm, for example, do not have to worry about the fare conditions of their connecting flight within Europe.
You can easily rebook Economy Flex and Business Class Flex fares to an earlier, same-day flight on your departure day – and without paying any fare surcharge, even in those cases in which the originally booked booking class is unavailable. As long as a seat is still available in the booked travel class, you can rebook your flight on the day of departure during the check-in process (via lufthansa.com, in the Lufthansa app or at an airport check-in machine or check-in counter). Please note that you must not have checked in any baggage or ordered any special services for your original flight.
Numerous extra services can be booked depending on the selected fare: Services on offer range from one piece of baggage up to 23 kg and advance reservation of a standard seat or a seat with more legroom through to an upgrade to Business Class. For the piece of baggage, the charges increase depending on whether the service is booked online, at the airport ticket counter or directly at the gate. A distinction is made between services that apply per route segment or for the entire booking. An advance seat reservation and a seat with more legroom, as well as the upgrade to Business Class, are charged per route segment. The charge for the piece of checked baggage on the Light fare applies to both the outbound and return journey.
