1. Find luxury with history: Guests flying with Lufthansa First Class will always find a small vase with a red rose at their seat. The flower not only looks pretty, it also has a symbolic meaning. The red rose first appeared at the end of the 1950s as a distinguishing feature for the first-class service of the „Senator“ luxury offer. Lufthansa introduced the Senator flights once a week in 1958 (a year later it became bi-weekly) for the Hamburg-Frankfurt-Düsseldorf-New York route. While pure economy flights carried 86 passengers at the time, Senator flights only had 30 seats: eight in First Class, 18 deluxe seats, and four beds.

An elegant lounge with leather-clad walls invited guests to linger during the flight, music provided entertainment and there was even an on-board chef who prepared à la carte menus. The potato pancakes fresh from the pan were particularly popular.

Even though Lufthansa only introduced the modern three-class system consisting of First Class, Business Class and Economy Class – then still called Tourist Class – on North Atlantic routes in 1979, the Senator concept can confidently be described as the forerunner of today's First Class. In keeping with that tradition, guests in the new Allegris First Class will find a red rose in their suites, a reminder of a long history of first-class service.

2. Enjoy the space: Excellent service is difficult to measure in numbers. The single suites in the new Allegris First Class are some of the largest First Class suites in the world. In addition, the seats are heated and cooled. The Suite Plus for two offers even more space for undisturbed togetherness. The individually controllable seats become a cozy double bed at night. Whether you want to relax or work, the feeling of space makes travel even more personal and individual – like a living room above the clouds.

3. Be entertained: Speaking of size, the screens in the new Allegris First Class are 27 inches in size, while those in the First Class Suite Plus Suite are 43 inches. The varied entertainment program on board is twice as much fun: 100 films in eight language versions, 200 TV programs from all over the world, as well as TV series, music, audio books and podcasts. The Lufthansa Edition of the Momentum 4 wireless headphones with active noise suppression from Sennheiser, which are provided exclusively in Allegris First Class, ensures first-class sound and undisturbed entertainment. By the way, Lufthansa was one of the first airlines to offer its First Class guests in particular an entertainment program on long-haul routes – in the early 1960s, film reels and projectors were still state of the art.

4. Be convinced by German quality: That Lufthansa is a German airline can be seen in the furnishings of First Class, where Lufthansa relies on the quality of German brands. The fine bone china porcelain on which the meals are presented is produced by the Dibbern manufactory based in the town of Bargteheide in Schleswig-Holstein. The cutlery comes from the traditional company Zwilling from Solingen. The pyjamas, provided for the comfort of First Class guests, are made by Van Laack from Mönchengladbach, and the bed linen cover comes from Fleuresse in Augsburg. The care products in the amenity kits and washrooms were developed by the physician Prof. Dr. med. Augustinus Bader, whose company of the same name is based in Parthenstein, Saxony.

5. Enjoy the finest wines: Lufthansa relies on a panel of internal and external wine experts, including three Masters of Wine, to select its first-class wines. Together, they evaluate the wines, sparkling wine, and champagne in blind tastings. The focus is exclusively on quality. The tasters do not know the brand, winery, or price. Around 30 competitions are held each year and a total of more than 1000 wines are tasted.

6. Feast on black gold: The champagne in First Class is not only served as a welcome drink, but also with caviar, which is served in Lufthansa First Class with the traditional accompaniments of lemon, chopped egg, shallots, and crème fraîche. Since 2017, Lufthansa has sourced this luxury product exclusively from the Chinese producer Kaluga Queen, whose caviar is also on the menu in several three-star restaurants in Paris. First Class guests clearly enjoy the delicacy – in 2023, they ate 24,150 cans of caviar weighing 100 grams each.

7. Feel like you're in a Michelin-starred restaurant: No Lufthansa First Class guest is likely to have landed hungry at their destination. In addition to the caviar, an amuse-bouche, a variety of starters, a soup or a sorbet are served. There are four to five different main courses to choose from and those who still have an appetite can enjoy a selection of cheeses, desserts, and chocolates. All of this is served on an extra-large table (61 x 66 cm) in Allegris First Class, making guests feel like they are in a Michelin-starred restaurant – at an altitude of 10,000 meters! To ensure that our  First Class frequent flyers don't get bored with the food, the entire menu changes every three months.

8. Let yourself be pampered by professionals: Anyone who serves these delicacies and takes care of all the other wishes of a discerning clientele has an additional qualification. All flight attendants who work in Lufthansa First Class receive prior training in communication skills and gastronomic expertise. There is even a special acronym for the successful graduates: QFFA. This stands for Qualified First Class Flight Attendants.
