Flights to Singapore: Discover the Lion City
The cosmopolitan city-state is famous for the diversity of its inhabitants and their peaceful co-habitation. The cultural mix is the source of the special atmosphere of Singapore. The Hindu Sri Mariamman Temple and the St. Andrews Cathedral, the Masjid-Sultan-Mosque and the Buddha Tooth Relic Temple show a religious tolerance apart from the ethnic diversity.
Experience all of Asia in SingaporeChinese, Malay and Indian inhabitants make up the bulk of the locals in the small city state. That’s why they say you can experience all of Asia in one place. This is certainly true for the countless restaurants and food stalls, where specialties from Northern China to Southern Indonesia to Central India are waiting to be discovered. Food markets like the one on Maxwell Road or Lau Pa Sat will send you on culinary adventure every day. This will give enough energy to explore the city. Visit the China Town and Little India quarters, where little shops in the shadows of the skyscrapers are waiting for visitors. Then go on to the Haji Lane in the centre of the Arab Quarter, known for its fashion shopping mile.
Singapore between jungle and high techEven though the city is very densely populated, it has some spots of peace and quiet to offer. The Botanical Garden and the Garden by the Bay are home to exotic plants from all over the world. In the latter the stars are 50 Meter high structures called super trees, which are illuminated at night and make for a spectacular view. The MacRitchie Reservoir Park is the opposite concept, it is a nature reserve for the rainforest that once covered the island. The world’s highest ferris wheel is in Singapore, from up there you can certainly find a great overview over the city. From here you can see the gigantic Marina Bay Sands Resort, a spectacular archtectural feat. Three skyscrapers are spanned on top by the „Skypark“, which features the highest outdoor swimming pool in the world. A gigantic shopping centre, an indoor canal and a big casino are additional features.
