Football connects. Lufthansa brings us together.

When brightly colored football shirts throng city streets, people cheer at home and the light from televisions flickers everywhere around the world, it can mean only one thing: kick-off again at the World Cup. Yet this 2022 World Cup in Qatar is like no other. All the more important for us to set an example of limitless diversity.

While the sport brings people together throughout the world and unites them, we do what we do best: connect the world. Because for years we have been living exactly the diversity that world football celebrates—every day.

We are proud to be taking the German national team to their destination again this year—and at the same time to make our commitment and conviction visible worldwide, even above the clouds. Because there is one thing we’re sure of: #DiversityWins.

#DiversityWins - even above the clouds

Culture, sport, people—football represents many things, but one thing above all: diversity. We remain convinced of this and want to carry this statement from Germany above the clouds to the World Cup. Working with Peter Phobia, a renowned German illustrator from New York, we have provided the Airbus 330 in which we are flying the German team to the World Cup with a very special message: #DiversityWins.

Once around the world: the great football shirt swap

From Germany via South Korea to Argentina: the German national team’s football shirt has traveled with us through the world’s most diverse places. This resulted in probably the most important football shirt swap that is going around the world. Look forward to exciting places, foreign cultures, and thrilling football traditions from all over the world.

Not to mention the unbelievably beautiful nature, the breathtaking skyscrapers, and its exciting history. Seoul is simply something special. Our tip during the World Cup: definitely visit one of the numerous karaoke bars.

Central America

For more than 3,000 years up to today: Mexico’s football tradition A tradition that’s over 3,000 years old: football in Mexico

There are places in the world where football is experienced in a very special way. Mexico is certainly one of them. No wonder: more than 3,000 years ago, the Maya developed a game that quite closely resembles today’s football – the Maya ball game. And did you know that Mexico is regarded as being the country of origin of "La Ola" (the Mexican wave)? But sport is far from the only tradition that makes this country worth seeing. From its fabulous beaches and ancient history to its delicious food, you’ll be enchanted by Mexico.
