Ten years ago, I found a studio in Poblenou where I still work today. The former industrial area has become an ever-changing place that offers a lot of space for creativity. The artists who live here shape the atmosphere of the neighborhood. Some of my friends also have offices and studios in Poblenou. This makes it easy to meet, exchange ideas, and help each other move forward.

A lot has changed in Poblenou in the last few years. Mostly for the better, I think. Although it is a shame that some of the old industrial buildings have been replaced by modern office blocks. But overall, the mix of tradition and modernity is something very special and inspiring. And there are always new things to discover: restaurants, art galleries, and pop-up stores.

One of Barcelona’s best flea markets is in Poblenou

If you like flea markets, don’t miss out on Els Encants. The futuristic roof is definitely an eye-catcher. It's also a great place to browse for antiques.

Another advantage of Poblenou is its proximity to the sea. I like to walk to the pier at Port Olímpic to enjoy the view. The breeze helps me clear my head.

The neighborhood is great to explore by bike. I would start with breakfast at the Little Fern. The menu is very varied and international – it’s impossible not to find something here. Then head to Can Framis, a contemporary art museum in a former factory. Stop for a coffee at Nomad or Three Marks Coffee. A tour of Poblenou should also include a visit to several galleries. Two of my favorites are the Vasto Gallery and the Side Gallery.

Go dancing at Razzmatazz

If you still have some energy left in the evening and want to go dancing or see a live concert, I recommend Razzmatazz, an institution in Barcelona and one of the biggest clubs in the city, playing everything from indie pop to rap and all kinds of electronic music.
