Green Fares: more sustainable air travel
Carbon-neutral by 2050. That’s the ambitious target that Lufthansa and the Lufthansa Group have set themselves. A target that’s worth every effort to achieve. And to achieve it we aim to reduce our emissions from air travel as much as possible. One step towards reaching this target are our Green Fares – new fares that allow more sustainable air travel throughout Europe and on selected intercontinental routes.
Reduce and offset: Green Fares throughout Europe
Selecting one of the Economy Green and Business Green fares will reduce 20% of individual flight-related CO₂ emissions through the use of sustainable aviation fuels (SAFs) and offset the remaining 80% of CO₂ emissions to an equivalent extent through a contribution to high-quality climate protection projects. This 20:80 combination of carbon reduction and offsetting is a fundamental part of the Green Fares on European flights and allows more sustainable air travel.
Green Fares on selected intercontinental routes
We now also offer Green Fares on selected intercontinental routes flown by the Lufthansa Group to make your journeys more sustainable.
Because selecting one of the Economy Green, Premium Eco Green, Business Green or First Green fares will reduce 10% of individual flight-related CO₂ emissions through the use of sustainable aviation fuels (SAFs) and offset the remaining 90% of individual flight-related CO₂ emissions through a contribution to high-quality climate protection projects.
Applicable on the following routes: Frankfurt–Bangalore (FRA–BLR), Munich–Incheon (MUC–ICN), Brussels–Kinshasa N’Djili (BRU–FIH), Zurich–Los Angeles (ZRH–LAX), Frankfurt–Miami (FRA–MIA), Singapore–London (SIN–LON), Sao Paulo–Zurich (GRU–ZRH), Nairobi–Frankfurt (NBO–FRA), Bangkok–Vienna (BKK- VIE), Hong Kong–London (HKG–LON), Paris–Bangkok (PAR–BKK).

Green Fares are not booked as a specific add-on. They constitute a stand-alone fare that you can book direct, alongside our Economy, Premium Eco, Business or First Class fares.
Our Economy Green, Premium Green, Business Green and First Green fares offer all the benefits of our fare families, in addition to more flexible rebooking options and additional award and status miles.

Green Fares on SWISS domestic flights
On domestic flights between Zurich and Geneva SWISS exclusively offers fares that already include offsetting the CO₂ emissions. This is achieved through a combination of the use of sustainable aviation fuels (SAFs) and a contribution to high-quality climate protection projects of 20% and 80% respectively. Passengers on this route also have the option of booking a Green Fare with a higher proportion of SAF: in this case, individual flight-related CO₂ emissions are reduced by 50% through sustainable aviation fuels and the remaining 50% is offset via climate protection projects.
The adjusted fares can only be booked for flight tickets between Geneva and Zurich. They do not apply to feeder or connecting flights.
