Simplified Onboard Service

It is important to us to offer you the best possible service, especially in these times when travelling is more complex than usual. Together with our virologists, we have scrutinized all processes on board our aircraft, and we have adapted them to prioritize your health and the health of our employees.

As examples of our changes we’ve made, our cabin crew will not serve open meals in the cabin at all. In addition, we are minimizing print material—only the menu card and safety card will continue to be available on board. Disinfection wipes will be distributed by the crew.

Onboard services on long-haul

Food and beverages

In all travel classes you can enjoy our usual beverage service.

Economy Class Premium Economy Class
  • We will serve a vegetarian dish and the usual beverage service.
  • Special meals may be ordered in advance.
  • You will receive a menu card* and may choose from two dishes.
  • Special meals may be pre-ordered as before.
  • We are currently suspending the regional menu concept.
Business Class First Class
  • You will receive a menu card* as usual and may choose from three main courses (first meal) or two dishes (second meal).
  • All snacks are individually packed.
  • We are currently suspending the regional menu concept
  • Our usual service* awaits you in First Class, but we will not offer an open menu.

* Find out about the menus two months in advance in our online menu.

Further services 

In Premium Economy Class and Economy Class you will receive disposable headphones, while guests in First Class and Business Class enjoy the usual service. On flights of more than 10.5 hours, mattresses are available as usual in Business Class.

The Lufthansa Magazine, as well as the WorldShop catalogue and the in-flight sales magazine are currently not available to you.

According to flight time:
  • less than 50 minutes there is no beverage service
  • longer than 50 minutes we will provide you with a bottle of water
  • longer than 65 minutes we offer additional coffee & tea on cross-border flights
  • longer than 120 minutes we offer you our usual beverage service
  • longer than 150 minutes we will serve you an additional snack
  • longer than 180 minutes we will serve you an additional vegetarian sandwich (preorder of special meals is still possible)
  • Here we offer you our usual food and beverage service.
  • Preorder of special meals is still possible.

Further services

Due to the current situation, no pillows are available in Economy Class and Business Class. As a guest in Business Class you will receive a freshly washed blanket on night flights.

The Lufthansa Magazine as well as the WorldShop catalogue and the in-flight sales magazine are currently not available to you.
