Refund

You are eligible for a refund of the seat reservation fee if:

• a seat re-assignment outside your reserved seat category is required, due to operational reasons (e. g. aircraft change).
• an unforeseen flight disruption results in you needing to be rebooked onto another flight, on which there is no equivalent seat available.
• your flight gets cancelled by the airline.
• you have purchased an upgrade to a higher travel class and had reserved a seat previously.
• the fare conditions allow it.

In the event of a refund, your reservation fee will be reimbursed onto your initial payment method (e.g. credit card). If the refund is made automatically, you will receive an email confirmation. The airline you booked with is responsible for the refund. If you booked via a third party (e.g. a travel agency), please contact them directly.

Please note that seat reservations cannot be refunded at the airport or on board.

We strive to ensure your comfort on board, which is why we make every effort to assign your preferred seat whenever possible. However, for operational reasons, it may be necessary to adjust your seat within the same seat category (e.g., Extra Legroom).

Your seat reservation guarantees you a seat within your selected seat category, but not a specific seat number (e.g., 3A).

Seat reservations cannot be refunded if you:

• cancel your flight.
• receive an upgrade from Lufthansa for reasons of goodwill or operational reasons.
• change your seat, but the new seat is cheaper or free of charge
• do not meet the conditions for sitting in an emergency exit row.
• make changes to your booking but equivalent seats are no longer available on your new flight.

Please note that the seat reservation is non-refundable if you only use part of your ticket, e.g. only BUD-FRA instead of BUD-FRA-NYC.

Receiving the refund of your reservation fee as a voucher is not possible.

If you decide to cancel your flight, your advance seat reservation is not eligible for a refund.

If your flight gets cancelled entirely, or you get rebooked onto another flight on which there is no equivalent seat available in your seat category (e.g. Extra Legroom), you are eligible for a refund of your seat reservation fee. 

If you get rebooked onto another flight on which there is an equivalent seat available in your seat category (e.g. Extra Legroom), your initial seat reservation remains valid and no refund is needed.

You can make or modify a seat reservation via Lufthansa if you purchased your ticket through a third party (e.g. a travel agency). Simply visit our website and enter your information in the section ​My bookings.  In your booking, you can then make a seat reservation for the flights displayed.
