What made you want to travel all 196 countries in the world?

I wanted to experience the world for myself – not just through the headlines. Traveling to every country was about connecting with people and learning about their cultures. Breaking a world record was just a bonus.

What were you most afraid of in the beginning?

Traveling alone as a young woman, especially in places perceived as unsafe. I overcame that by doing my research, trusting my instincts, and leaning on the kindness of locals. The more I traveled, the more I realized how welcoming the world is.

You’ve travelled to remote places like Turkmenistan, Thailand and Tuvalu in the South Pacific. How has jumping into the unknown enriched your life?

Jumping into the unknown has enriched my life by pushing me to grow in ways I never imagined. It’s taught me to embrace uncertainty and trust myself, which has opened doors to incredible opportunities and unforgettable experiences. Taking those leaps has shown me the strength I didn’t know I had and has made me more confident and resilient. Every time I’ve stepped outside my comfort zone, I’ve discovered something new about the world — and about myself.

What was the most unique place you’ve ever traveled to?

Bhutan stands out for its breathtaking landscapes and cultural richness. And Pakistan for its raw beauty and incredible hospitality. Most recently, I embarked on a trip around the southern tip of Greenland, exploring untouched wilderness and meeting local Inuits and learning about their ways of life. Climbing an active volcano in Congo was both thrilling and humbling, as well as climbing the ruins of Machu Picchu in Peru at an altitude of 2,400 meters. Each of these journeys pushed my limits and gave me a deeper appreciation for the beauty and diversity of our planet.

Which encounter will you never forget?

Trekking with mountain gorillas in the dense forests of the Democratic Republic of Congo, Rwanda, and Uganda. Watching them up close in their natural habitat was breathtaking—they’re so powerful yet gentle, and their behavior feels incredibly similar to ours. The way they interact, care for each other, and even make eye contact leaves you with a profound sense of connection and respect. It was a humbling experience that reminded me of how closely we’re all connected to the natural world.

Which place surprised you the most?

Venezuela surprised me the most with its natural beauty and the warmth of its people. I knew the country is often perceived as dangerous, but I felt incredibly safe and welcomed by the locals every step of the way. I went on a journey to camp overnight in Canaima National Park and trekked to Angel Falls, the tallest waterfall in the world, which felt like stepping into a real-life dream. The experience was a reminder that some of the most rewarding adventures come from stepping beyond the news headlines and seeing a place for yourself.

Which places do you want to go back to and why?

The continent of Africa holds a special place in my heart. I’d love to return to explore even more of its diversity and beauty. A horseback safari in Botswana is high on my bucket list—it’s such a unique way to connect with the wildlife and landscape in an intimate, immersive way. Africa has this incredible energy that always leaves me inspired, and there’s so much more I want to discover there.

Which countries would you recommend for women who want to travel solo for the first time?

For women traveling solo for the first time, I’d highly recommend starting with Southeast Asia. Thailand or Bali with its welcoming locals are great for solo travelers looking for adventure and community. Both regions have something for everyone and can be a great introduction to the freedom and empowerment that comes with solo travel.

What have you learned about our world after being in every country?

After traveling to every country, I’ve learned that our world is far more connected and beautiful than it often seems. Every place has its own unique story, yet there’s a shared humanity that ties us all together—whether it’s through kindness, resilience, or the desire to connect. I’ve seen how breathtakingly diverse our landscapes, cultures, and traditions are, but also how similar we are in our hopes and dreams.

When is your book coming out and what is it about?

My book is still a work in progress, but I’m excited to share that updates will be coming in 2025! It’s all about my journey to break a world record by visiting 196 countries by the time I was 21, and it dives into the challenges, triumphs, and lessons I learned along the way. The book also chronicles my most recent world record — the first global circumnavigation by electric vehicle. I’m looking forward to sharing the full story of these incredible adventures and the experiences that have shaped my journey.

Anyone who travels as much as you do must be an expert at packing suitcases. Please tell us how you manage to take only the essentials with you.

Traveling lightly has become second nature to me, and my packing list is all about versatility and essentials. I always bring a few key wardrobe staples that can mix and match easily. Skincare is a must — having my trusted products helps me feel refreshed no matter where I am. Lastly, I never forget healthy snacks like protein bars and meat sticks to stay fueled, and my camera gear to capture the adventure. It’s all about balancing practicality with the things that keep me feeling my best.

Which travel gadgets make long flights more comfortable?

My noise-canceling headphones are a game changer for blocking out distractions and tuning into music or podcasts. I also love my portable charger to keep my devices powered up, especially during international flights. To stay cozy, I bring along a lightweight jacket that can double as a pillow.

What are the most amazing things you've seen from a plane?

The Amazon River winding through the jungle was an unforgettable sight.
As well as the stunning fjords of Greenland stretching out below, and the Eiffel Tower appear in the distance as we approached Paris.
