Contemporary cuisine that is rich in contrasts
First and Business Class passengers on long-haul flights from Germany in January and February 2010 can look forward to sophisticated menus created by Nils Henkel. Henkel is head chef at the “Schlosshotel Lerbach” country house hotel in Bergisch Gladbach and his culinary philosophy is based on the desire to give each guest a very special and enjoyable dining experience.
Henkel’s style of cooking is modern German cuisine shaped by contrasts. This talented young professional chef was awarded a number of accolades in 2009: he was “German Chef of the Year 2009” and received the highest rating of 3 stars from the Michelin Guide.
Born in Kiel, this 40 year-old from the far North of Germany began his career at the historic “Voss Haus” hotel in Eutin. He was inspired by his mother’s home cooking and worked for a number of renowned chefs, including Heinz Wehmann at the Landhaus Scherrer gourmet restaurant in Hamburg or Pascal Levallois at „Valkenhof“ in Cosfeld, before joining Dieter Müller in 1997 at the “Schlosshotel Lerbach” as sous chef and later chef de cuisine.
