Douce Steiner - a chef with elegance and passion
Classical elegance with influences from seasonal French cuisine - that best describes the culinary art of German chef Douce Steiner. In November and December, this exceptional chef will be treating our First and Business Class passengers to her elegant menus on long-haul flights from Germany.
Cooking runs in the Steiner family: Douce spent her apprenticeship with her father, the well-known chef Hans-Paul Steiner, before perfecting her skills with Georges Blanc at his restaurant in Vonnas, France, in the Schweizer Stuben Hotel in Wertheim and with Harald Wohlfahrt in the Restaurant Schwarzwaldstube.
With her own Hirschen Hotel and Restaurant, Douce Steiner gained the high honour of a Michelin star. German gourmet magazine, ‘Der Feinschmecker’, chose her as its ‘Chef of the Month’ in January 2009 - just one of many distinctions she holds.
Famous restaurant critics enthuse about her exquisite, unfussy cuisine. At the end of this year Douce Steiner will conjure this culinary experience onto our passengers’ plates, giving them a high-quality foretaste of Christmas.
