International travel

Fares
The fare to be paid covers the cost of transporting you from the airport at the actual place of departure to the airport at the actual final destination. It is calculated in accordance with the tariff which is applicable on the day you book your ticket for the flight dates and itinerary shown on your ticket. If you alter your route, this may have an impact on the fare you pay. The fare is recalculated on the basis of the actual route taken and, if applicable, the difference subsequently charged. Your fare does not include ground transport between airports or between airports and city centers.

Taxes, fees and carrier charges
Applicable taxes, fees and carrier charges imposed by the airline, government or other authority, or by the operator of an airport, shall be payable by you. At the time you purchase your ticket, you will be advised of taxes, fees and carrier charges not included in the fare, most of which will normally be shown separately on the ticket.

Special baggage rules for travel to/from or across the USA

Under a consumer protection law issued by the US Department of Transportation, the following baggage rules apply to flights to/from or across the USA:

Consistent baggage rules apply to all parts of a journey to/from or across the USA. These include the free baggage allowance, the dimensions and weight of each of your bags, the level of any charges that may be incurred and hand luggage regulations.
The baggage rules set by the airline which is listed first on the ticket are those that usually apply here. If Lufthansa is listed on the first flight segment of your ticket, then Lufthansa’s baggage regulations will apply to your entire journey(1) — both your outbound and your return flight.
However, any airline which is listed as the first carrier on the ticket is at liberty to transfer the baggage rule stipulation to another airline in the itinerary (the so-called ‘Most Significant Carrier’). In such a case that other airline’s rules would then apply to the entire journey.
Lufthansa therefore cannot guarantee that, for a Lufthansa-issued ticket, the Lufthansa baggage rules will always apply in every case. Other airlines often have baggage rules which differ from those of Lufthansa.

For details of the free baggage allowance applying to your individual flight, please see your ticket and the e-mail confirmation which you receive from Lufthansa.

(1)Hand luggage rules may vary due to local laws.

Paper tickets

Since June 2008, you will have received only electronic tickets for all your Lufthansa flights. Paper tickets are now only used as an exception; for example, when electronic tickets (known as etix®) cannot be issued for technical reasons. No fee will be collected in such cases.

Lost tickets - USD 150 (per ticket)

An airline ticket is a contractual and legal document and is therefore the responsibility of the passenger. Should the ticket be lost through unfortunate circumstances, it will be settled on a case by case basis whether a replacement document can be issued or whether it is necessary to purchase another ticket.

Lufthansa FlyNet®

Deutsche Telekom offers you two distinct tariffs for using Internet access under the description ‘Hotspot Pass Sky’. Payment is possible by all major credit cards. Miles & More members can also redeem their award miles to pay for using Lufthansa FlyNet®.

• HotSpot Pass Sky 24 hours: €19.95 or 7,000 miles

The 24-hour Hotspot Pass Sky can be used, while valid, in any Lufthansa aircraft equipped with FlyNet®.

Infants who turn two during the journey will require their own seat; a child fare will be charged for the whole journey.
On Lufthansa long-haul flights special baby cots are available. Please be aware that the number of seats with cots are limited.
