With certain ailments (e.g. heart or lung disease, stroke, etc), injuries following accidents or chronic illness, you must obtain an assessment of your fitness to fly from Lufthansa’s Medical Service.

In addition, if there is any doubt over your fitness to fly, you or your doctor should arrange for an assessment of your medical condition by Lufthansa in advance. This evaluation is required no later than 48 hours before departure.
