one is entirely at the mercy of Stefan Wilke – and no-one has ever regretted it!
Stefan Wilke is the Lufthansa Star Chef for the months of May and June in First and Business Class on long-haul flights. Wilke was born into a gastronomic family in the southern German town of Freudenstadt in 1979 and with that his successful professional path was predestined. Like many of his fellow top chefs, he completed his culinary training with Germany’s most famous chef, Harald Wohlfahrt, in the ‘Schwarzwaldstube’. Wohlfahrt quickly recognized the young chef’s talent and appointed him chef de cuisine at his Hamburg restaurant ‘Palazzo’ in 2003. But soon Wilke was drawn to distant lands: in the floating kitchen of the luxury liner MS EUROPA. Since 2006 he has been in charge here as the youngest ever chef de cuisine.
It isn’t everyone’s cup of tea to be responsible for a total of four exclusive restaurants as the chef de cuisine on board a ship, even if it is such a luxurious cruise liner as the MS EUROPA. For Stefan Wilke it is a dream job in which he can combine his professional passion with the adventure of sailing the oceans and he has already been able to explore many cities and regions. This experience influences the menus he creates, something which our First and Business Class passengers will be able to discover for themselves.
