Bergen - Norway

This summer, Lufthansa is opening a new route from Frankfurt to Bergen. The new Lufthansa service, which will operate twice daily, year round, will be launched on 30 March, when the summer timetable goes into effect. Bergen is the third destination in Norway after Oslo and Stavanger to be served from Frankfurt by Germany’s largest carrier.

Bergen lies on the west coast of Norway. With a population of 250,000, it is the secondlargest city in the country. Bergen has huge potential as a tourism destination, and is regarded as one of the most beautiful cities in Scandinavia.

Buenos Aires - Argentina

Lufthansa customers can now benefit from additional services to South America.

Lufthansa operates five non-stop flights per week from Frankfurt to Buenos Aires and is thus once again offering a direct connection to Argentina without a stopover.

Overall, South America is showing strong, dynamic growth and many large German and European companies have branches there, particularly in Buenos Aires.

Calgary - Canada

On 14 April, Lufthansa is launching a new daily Airbus A330-300 service to the Canadian metropolis of Calgary. The city in the Province of Alberta is one of the most dynamic economic centres in Canada and has a strong energy and chemicals sector.

Calgary lies in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains and is close to many famous ski resorts such as Lake Louise and Sunshine Village. In the summer months, visitors can enjoy some of Canada’s most stunning scenery in the various national parks in the region. Alberta is also a paradise for cowboy and Western fans.

This means that Lufthansa customers will have a choice of 22 destinations in Canada and the United States.

Karachi and Lahore - Pakistan

Lufthansa is flying to Pakistan again: We launched our year round connection with thrice weekly flights from Frankfurt to Karachi and, for the first time, also to Lahore.

Lufthansa passengers stand to benefit from the new flights: This new non-stop connection from Frankfurt to Pakistan shortens the air journey there by up to four hours compared with the present stopovers in the Gulf region. In recent years, the economic situation in Pakistan has constantly improved and an array of international companies has established a local presence in this country.

Luanda - Angola

On 1 April 2008, following the introduction of the summer timetable, a new service will be launched between Frankfurt and the Angolan capital, Luanda. The non-stop route will be operated once a week by an Airbus 340-300 with 221 seats.

Angola is Africa’s second-largest exporter of petroleum after Nigeria and generates about 80 per cent of its national income from sales of crude oil.

Malabo - Equatorial Guinea

From 1 April 2008, Lufthansa is commencing its first flights to Malabo, the capital of Equatorial Guinea. Using the existing connection from Frankfurt to Abuja (Nigeria), the airline will stop off en-route at Malabo. Lufthansa will operate the route thrice-weekly with an Airbus A330-300.

The economy in Equatorial Guinea is largely dependent on the production and export of oil. With other new African destinations in the summer timetable, Germany’s largest airline is expanding its route network in Africa to a total of 15 destinations in twelve countries, served by 67 weekly connections. Lufthansa is the only airline to offer a First Class service to Malabo, alongside Economy and Business Class.

Equatorial Guinea consists of a portion on the African mainland and several offshore islands. The Country achieved independence in 1968 and has a population of over half a million. The official languages are Spanish and French. The capital Malabo lies on the island of Bioko in the Gulf of Guinea and is surrounded by extensive oil reserves. Blessed by a growing economy in recent years, the country maintains numerous international trade relations, principally in the energy sector.

Nanjing and Shenyang - China

Lufthansa is expanding its route network from four to six destinations in China in the year of the Olympic summer games in Beijing. From summer 2008, we will offer services to Nanjing from Frankfurt and to Shenyang from Munich alongside our existing services to Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Hong Kong. Together with our services to the new destinations, we will be operating a total of 58 flights weekly from our Frankfurt and Munich hubs to China, thereby reinforcing our position as the leading European airline to China.

Orlando - USA

Since launching a new service to Orlando, we are now offering our passengers the opportunity to fly to a second destination - after Miami - in Florida.

The inclusion of Orlando marks the latest stage in the ongoing expansion of the airline’s flight schedule to USA and Canada in recent years. Offering three travel classes on the new non-stop flight to Orlando, Lufthansa is the only airline to provide a First Class service on this route.

The city of Orlando, in Central Florida, has a population of about a million and is located in an important, fast-growing area. More than 50 per cent of all the residents of Florida (about eight million people) live within a radius of 200 kilometers of the city. Each year, over 50 million tourists visit the region with its many famous theme parks (Walt Disney World, Universal Studios, Sea World).

Seattle - USA

From 30 March, we will fly daily from Frankfurt to Seattle, the largest city in the Pacific North West region. The thriving commercial metropolis in the US state of Washington will become Lufthansa’s 18th destination in America.

The Space Needle, which was erected for the 1962 World’s Fair, is the architectural symbol of the Seattle.

Sibiu - Romania

Sibiu (formerly known as Hermannstadt), is the third city in Romania after Bucharest and Timisoara to be served by Lufthansa directly from Munich. The new destination is the addition to Lufthansa’s expanding network in Eastern Europe. Lufthansa operates 360 flights per week to 22 destinations in Eastern Europe.

With its extended catchment area, the Transylvanian city of Sibiu has a population of more than five million. Since Romania joined the European Union in 2007, its economy has expanded significantly. Sibiu is also a major tourist attraction: the mediaeval city in the foothills of the Southern Carpathian Mountains is one of the two European Capitals of Culture in 2007.
