Payment by SEPA Direct Debit

You can pay for your etix® by direct debit or SEPA Direct Debit if you are resident in Germany and have a valid current account with a German bank or savings bank. With SEPA Direct Debit, transfer times are reduced to one bank working day. There is also no longer any distinction made between national transfers and direct debits and those made Europe-wide. The SEPA Direct Debit process will replace the current electronic direct debit in Germany on 1 February 2014.

What is SEPA Direct Debit?

SEPA stands for Single Euro Payments Area and its purpose is to simplify cashless payments within the Euro Zone. With SEPA Direct Debit you can make convenient, cashless payments for your online purchases and bookings.

How does SEPA Direct Debit work?

If you select the SEPA Direct Debit payment method on, you will be asked to provide your IBAN number. After entering it, you must confirm the SEPA direct debit. The corresponding amount will be deducted from your account.

What is the IBAN?

The IBAN replaces the national account identifier: for national and cross-border bank transfers and direct debits in euros, the IBAN (International Bank Account Number) replaces the national account identifier (in Germany this is the traditional account number and bank sorting code).

You will find your IBAN on, for example, your bank statement. In addition, this information can also now be found on the bank customer cards of most payment service providers.

If you don’t have your IBAN available, you can use an IBAN generator to generate your personal IBAN.

What must I be aware of after SEPA migration?

The migration to SEPA Direct Debit will take place automatically. It will then no longer be possible to use the current electronic direct debit system. If the bank details saved in your profile are invalid or you change these between 16 and 22 January 2014, you will need to enter the SEPA account information (IBAN) manually into your profile. This will save you from having to enter your account information manually when booking a flight.
