Anna Matscher - from hobby chef to Michelin star
When Anna Matscher, a trained massage therapist who cooked as a hobby, took over the Matscher family inn ‘Zum Löwen’ in Tesimo, Italy, with her husband 22 years ago, they both faced an undreamt of challenge.
Whilst her husband trained as a sommelier, Anna took to the cooking with panache, helped by her mother-in-law. She began with simple dishes and 10 years later her creativity and the progress in her cooking resulted in the award of one Michelin star.
With the rebuilding of the restaurant which began in 2007, the family realised their gastronomic vision, creating an excellent small restaurant with a sophisticated atmosphere. Here Anna Matscher creates her dishes by blending traditional Italian and Mediterranean cuisine.
She is always on the look-out for local produce which will enrich her culinary style and translate into the creative ideas for which she is highly praised in many restaurant guides.
In September and October the exceptionally talented Anna Matscher will be enthusing First and Business Class passengers with some of her outstanding dishes on long-haul flights from Germany.
