Are you flying off on holiday with the whole family and would like to get to your departure gate as quickly as possible? We have a few tips here to help you enjoy a relaxed start to your trip.
Simply check in from home or en route
With Lufthansa’s online or mobile check-in you and your whole family can check in conveniently from home or on the move from as early as 23 hours before departure. You can choose adjacent seats and print out your boarding passes or have them sent to your mobile phone. Once you arrive at the airport, you only have to check in your baggage and you can then enjoy a relaxed start to your holiday.
By the way: on long-haul trips, such as flights to the USA, for example, you can also provide the requisite entry details when you check in online.

Relaxed all the way to your departure gate
The check-in machines at the airport are also ideal when you are travelling with your family. They are easy to use and you can print out your boarding passes there yourself. Then you simply need to check in your baggage at one of the baggage drop-off counters.
At some airports you can even check in your baggage the evening before your flight and then enjoy a relaxed start to your journey the next day with just your carry-on baggage. You can find out which airports offer you Lufthansa late-night check-in here.
The new Lufthansa self-service baggage kiosks
There’s no quicker way to check in your bags! If you are flying from Frankfurt, Munich or Hamburg airports try out the new self-service baggage kiosks — you’ll be impressed! In just three easy steps you can send your bags on their way to their destination yourself. You will find more information about our self-service baggage kiosks here.
The Lufthansa family counters at Frankfurt and Munich
As a family you can use the new family counters at Frankfurt and Munich airports. You will be able to identify them from a distance thanks to Lu and Cosmo, the two Lufthansa mascots, who will welcome your children to the counters.
The family counter at Frankfurt is located in Departure Hall B at counters 336-338 and at Munich it is in the departure hall at counters 425-426. The counters are open to parents and their children under 12. Further information about the family counters is available on the ‘Children at the airport’ page.
