The airport is located 3km (2 miles) south of Newark and 26km (16 miles) southwest of New York City.


How to get there

The airport is located off Highway-78 (from Manhattan via Holland Tunnel) and Highway-95 in New Jersey.


Access by public transport

Newark Liberty International Airport station is connected to the terminals via the free AirTrain Newark service. From here, Amtrak (tel: 1 800 872 7245; and New Jersey Transit (tel: 1 800 772 2222; trains run to Penn Station for connections to PATH subway trains, which serve downtown Manhattan and 33rd Street with other stops on the way.

Coach USA (tel: (877) 863 9275; operates the 24-hour Newark Airport Express coach to New York City, calling at Grand Central Station, Bryant Park and the Port Authority Bus Terminal. Fares are $15 one way, $25 return, and journey time is between 90-120 minutes. Other services run to destinations in Queens, Brooklyn, the Bronx, Staten Island and the suburbs. A number of companies also offer shuttle services to the city, and the other NYC airports. Ground transportation information is available in Arrivals areas of all terminals.

Taxis are readily available; passengers should use authorised taxis only and establish a fare before departure. Average fares to New York City range from $55-$90, depending on the area required.

Travelers Aidservices are availableat the ground transportation counters in each terminal. The main Travelers Aid office can be reached on (tel: (973) 623 5052). Multi-lingual customer service representatives wear red jackets and are available throughout the terminals to provide information and assistance.
