AIRail: let the train take the strain - ICE to Frankfurt Airport
New: AIRail connection from Siegburg/Bonn station
On 5 November Siegburg/Bonn became the new station for boarding and disembarking on the inter-city high speed line from Cologne to Frankfurt. In addition, the AIRail service between Frankfurt Airport and the main stations at Stuttgart and Cologne is being extended. So we can now bring you quickly and directly to the AIRail Terminal at Frankfurt Airport - and right to the centre of the global route network operated by Lufthansa and its Star Alliance partners.
Shorter check-in deadlines at main stations
Check in just 15 minutes before your train departs: in future the minimum check-in time at Stuttgart and Cologne main stations and the new Lufthansa office at Siegburg/Bonn will be reduced.
Check-in at Siegburg/Bonn station
Lufthansa is installing a check-in machine for AIRail connections in the DB Travel Centre at Siegburg/Bonn station.
You can check-in your baggage for your Lufthansa connecting flight at the new Quick Check-in baggage drop-off counter in the AIRail Terminal at Frankfurt. It is located on the bridge between the station and the airport. You can also collect your baggage from there again on your return journey.

Check-in at the counter at Cologne and Stuttgart main stations
With AIRail you can check in at the specially designated Lufthansa counter at the station, where you will receive your boarding passes for all connecting flights from Frankfurt. After receiving your boarding pass you should take your baggage with you onto the train. On arrival in Frankfurt you can check in your baggage at the Lufthansa Quick Check-in baggage drop-off counter in the AIRail Terminal at Frankfurt Airport main-line station.
Your boarding pass for the InterCity Express (ICE) includes the carriage and seat number of your reservation. As a First or Business Class customer you will have a seat in a first class carriage on the ICE, where you will be served a snack or a drink. If you are an Economy Class customer we will reserve a seat for you in second class.
You can of course enjoy the benefits of the AIRail service on your return journey too: after arriving at Frankfurt simply collect your baggage from the newly installed baggage reclaim in the AIRail Terminal at Frankfurt Airport main-line station. You may also need to clear customs there. Finally, as on your outbound journey, take your baggage onto the train with you.
And for Miles & More members there is also 'from train to plane': Lufthansa miles included.
Access to the DB lounges at the stations
AIRail First and Business Class customers as well as Senators and HON Circle Members have free access to the DB Lounge at Frankfurt Airport main-line station on the day they travel. At Cologne and Stuttgart main stations the DB First Class Lounge continues to be available to Lufthansa First Class passengers, Lufthansa Senator Card holders and HON Circle Members.
Save time with AIRail
From Cologne your journey on the new ICE high-speed rail line takes less than one hour and from Stuttgart it is just 71 minutes. In no time at all you are at Frankfurt Airport’s AIRail Terminal and have direct access to the extensive, global network operated by Lufthansa and its Star Alliance partners. So the distances are short at the airport too. The minimum time necessary to get from the train to the aircraft is an hour - no longer than it takes to transfer from one flight to another.
