The airport is located 20km (12 miles) southeast of Tel Aviv and 50km (31 miles) west of Jerusalem.

Access by public transport
A train service (tel: (03) 611 7000; www.israrail.org.il) links the airport's Terminal 3 and Tel Aviv, operating from 0300 to midnight (journey time - 15 minutes).
Buses run to Jerusalem and Haifa on routes 423, 945 and 947; buses are operated by the Egged Co-operative (tel: (03) 694 8888; www.egged.co.il) and stops are located in the central piazza of the airport opposite car park 1. Bus 475 to Tel Aviv goes to the central bus station. Other destinations include Petah Tikva, Ramla, Lod and Shoham. Bus 222 goes to North Tel Aviv railway station before stopping at all hotels along Hayarkon Street. Bus stops are located outside Terminal 1, opposite entrance gate 7. In Terminal 3, buses and taxis are located at level 2, gates 21, 23 and 24.
Taxis are located near the airport reception hall. Hadar Lod Taxis (tel: (03) 971 1103) operates to all destinations. Nesher Tours (tel: (02) 625 7227) runs a shared taxi service between the airport and Jerusalem. Amal (tel: (04) 866 2324) runs a shared taxis service between the airport and Haifa.
Information counters are situated in the main hall and in the Departures hall; there is an automated service in English for flight information (tel: (03) 972 3332) and information on check in, parking and transport (tel: (03) 972 3388). Ground stewards are on hand in the terminal building to offer assistance and information. The Israeli Government Tourist Office operates a 24-hour information desk, which is located in the Arrivals hall (tel: (03) 971 5555; www.goisrael.com).
Terminal 2, which previously served domestic passengers and was set for demolition following transfer of these services to Terminal 1, is now to be redeveloped for the use of low cost airlines. Ben Gurion also opened a nearly 2-mile long runway at the end of October 2007. Officials said it would accommodate the new Airbus A380.
