1. Flight Awards

1.1. Booking Terms and Conditions

Flight awards can be booked at LH.com or via the
Miles & More online platforms for all flights operated by Adria Airways, Austrian Airlines Group, Condor, Croatia Airlines, LOT Polish Airlines, Lufthansa, and SWISS. Combination with other airlines is not possible for a flight award booked online.

The online discount only applies to flight awards booked via the internet even if the system is temporarily unavailable. This offer is thus only provided for routes offered and made available online.

Flight awards with other Miles & More airline partners can be booked by calling +49 - 18 05 - 59 59 (€0.14/min. from the Deutsche Telekom landline network; call charges may vary dependent upon network operator or mobile network provider) or through your local Miles & More Service Team.

Flight awards can only be booked if seats are available in the desired travel class on the desired route and in the relevant booking class for Miles & More flight awards.

You will receive an etix® when you book flight awards via LH.com or the Miles & More online platforms. If the desired destination airport for your round trip flight does not have etix® machines, you will receive a regular paper ticket for your flight award.

You can find information on the destinations that can be booked for flight awards in the "city selection" and in the award table.

The destination airport of the outbound trip does not have to be identical with the departure airport of the return flight. But both airports must be located within one award zone (open jaw).

Should the outbound and return flights take place on the same day, the Same Day Award will be applied; this includes a mileage surcharge above the normal flight award price.

Flight awards can also be booked only for partial routes (only outbound or only return - one-way flight award). Please notice, that one-way flight awards can only be booked only for flights operated by Adria Airways, Air One, Austrian Airlines Group, Croatia Airlines, LOT Polish Airlines, Lufthansa, and SWISS and can not be booked online.

Children at the age of 2 to 11 years fly at especially reasonable prices. If you would like to redeem a flight award for a child, only 75 % of the miles normally required for the flight award are actually needed. Please note that child awards are only offered on flights operated by Adria Airways, Air One, Austrian Airlines Group, Croatia Airlines, LOT Polish Airlines, Lufthansa, and SWISS. Child awards can not be booked online.

1.2. Payment in Miles and Refunds
The number of miles required for your flight award is calculated on the basis of a round-trip, the award zone selected, and the desired service class. For a one-way flight award, 75 % of the miles that are required for a regular round-trip flight award are charged. For booking a flight award for children between the ages of 2 and 11, 75 % of the miles required for a regular return trip flight award are needed. At present, one-way flight awards and children’s flight awards can only be booked via the
Miles & More Service Team.

The miles used for booking a flight award will be debited from your mileage account when the reservation process has been completed.

Flight awards not used will expire without substitution and cannot be refunded or credited back to your mileage account (it is possible to change the itinerary, see "4. Itinerary Change, Transferability, and Booking for Another Person").

Any taxes, fees and charges arising will be calculated separately and may be charged to your credit card. Alternatively, for domestic award flights within Europe and for those crossing European borders, taxes, fees and charges may also be paid for with miles (with the exception of fees for change of booking and cancellation, and express charges, etc.).

Customers who are residents of Germany can use the electronic direct debiting procedure for their online booking of an etix®.

1.3. Advance booking deadlines and ticket validity
If you book your flight ward for a non-etix® capable airport no later than seven business days prior to your planned departure, you will receive your flight award ticket immediately by mail (please check the correctness and completeness of your address in your Miles & More online profile).

If you decide at the last minute to book a flight award (four to seven business days before travel is to begin) for which etix® usage is not possible due to local circumstances, we will send you your ticket by express mail for a service fee of €20 within Germany and Europe, and for €40 worldwide.

If the airports you have chosen for your flight award are able to process etix®, the booking of your flight award is free of charge up to two business days before departure.

Unfortunately, if the period between reservation and the date of departure is less than two business days, your flight award request cannot be considered for the dates selected.

Your flight award can be booked up to 361 days before you wish to begin your travel.
Flight awards are valid for up to twelve months after they have been issued.

1.4. Change of booking, transferability, and booking for a third party
To change or cancel a flight award a charge of €50 or CHF70 / USD60 is payable (€150 or CHF220 to change to a Same Day Award). This amount may vary or be waived for certain awards. A change of booking is only possible in respect of the date and time of the flight. A change of route is not possible.

A flight award that has been issued is not transferable.

Flight awards can also be used for spouses or partners as well as for children under 27 years. You can also pass on flight awards to friends and relatives free of charge without having to travel with them as a companion.

Miles from different mileage accounts cannot be transferred or combined with each other.

Small children (under the age of 2) travel with you free of charge if they do not need a separate seat. Additionally, there is a reduction of 25 % on the miles normally required for the flight award for children between the age of 2 to 11. Please note that tickets for children and small children (under 2 years of age) cannot be booked online. If you would like to book this type of ticket, please contact your local Miles & More Service Team.

Booking a flight award for a child under the age of 12 is only permitted if the child is accompanied by an adult during the flight.

1.5. Special rules for status members
Senators and HON Circle members who book flight awards via LH.com or the Miles & More online platforms have the option of booking a Companion Ticket. For a Companion Ticket, the
Miles & More member and the accompanying person (companion) must complete all travel together. Even if you book a flight award at the last minute for a non-etix® capable airport (seven to four business days before departure), as a Senator or HON Circle member, no service fee will be charged for sending your flight award ticket to you by express mail.

2. Fly Smart awards

Fly Smart flight awards can be purchased for fewer miles than regular flight awards and due to this reason they are subject to special terms and conditions (booking period of 14 calendar days to two business days, when paper tickets are issued, four business days, before departure). This award can only be booked online. Other online discounts will not be applicable because Fly Smart flight awards are already online awards.

2.1. Booking Terms and Conditions
Fly Smart flight awards for economy and business class can only be booked online. They are valid for flights operated by Austrian Airlines Group, Condor*, Croatia Airlines, LOT Polish Airlines, Lufthansa, and SWISS.

Air One Fly Smart flight awards can only be booked offline.

No Itinerary changes can be made for Fly Smart flight awards and they cannot be cancelled.

*Not available for Condor Comfort Class.

2.2. Advance booking period and ticket validity
Tickets are valid for a maximum of one month starting from the date of departure.

If a Fly Smart flight award booking is made for an airport without etix® machines in less than the required period of seven business days, an express processing fee will be charged of the amount of €20 within Germany and Europe, and €40 worldwide.

For flight awards within the zone of Germany and Europe as well as for flight awards within one other region, the following will apply: the earliest possible return flight is Sunday following the date where the travel begins.

For Fly Smart flight awards to intercontinental destinations, the minimum stay is seven days.

The Companion Award for Senators and HON Circle members is not possible for Fly Smart flight awards. This also applies for children and one-way flight awards.

3. Upgrade awards

You can use your miles to fly in the next highest class with Miles & More upgrade awards on flights with Adria Airways, Air New Zealand, All Nippon Airways (ANA), Asiana Airlines, Austrian Airlines Group*, Condor, Croatia Airlines, LOT Polish Airlines*, Lufthansa*, SWISS, Singapore Airlines, TAP Portugal, Thai Airways International, United that have JP, NH, NZ, OZ, OS, DE, OU, LO, LH, LX, SQ, TP, TG and UA flight numbers.

All terms and conditions applicable to the ticket originally issued apply as well in connection with the booking of an upgrade award. An upgrade is only valid for the route designated or included in the ticket flight coupon. An upgrade certificate is valid for 12 months.

* You can also book your upgrade awards with these Miles & More airline partners online.

3.1. Booking Terms and Conditions
You can only book an upgrade award for the next highest service class.

To do so, you must have a flight paid for in full and booked via LH.com or the Miles & More online platforms, or through the Miles & More Service Team. (only for an only booking with LH, OS, or LO flight numbers), for which the ticket has already been issued. All routes for which an upgrade is to be booked must be confirmed in advance in the number class.

Booking upgrade premiums requires that there are seats available for the particular flight dates for these awards.

An upgrade award is valid only for one flight segment (partial route).

An upgrade on a domestic flight within Europe is only possible in connection with an upgrade on an intercontinental flight route (the miles for an intercontinental upgrade already include the miles required for the domestic European flight).

The paperless version of the upgrade award (eUpgrade) is considered to be the standard form of presentation. For flights with Austrian Airlines Group, LOT Polish Airlines, and Lufthansa, an eUpgrade can be booked up to three hours before departure. This period may vary from destination to destination due to the dependency or factors like catering. Requirement: The departure must be from a location for which eUpgrade is possible). You can get information on these destinations from your Miles & More Service Team.

The change to the upgraded class goes through right away and the corresponding miles are debited from your account immediately.

It is also possible to be put on the waiting list with an eUpgrade. In this case, miles are only debited from your account if the eUpgrade is confirmed.

3.2. Advance booking deadlines and payment
If you need your upgrade award in paper form, you must do the reservation at least seven business days prior to the requested flight date; if the booking is made less than seven days before departure, a service fee of €20 in Germany and Europe and €40 in the rest of the world will be charged.

A booking is only possible four business days before the desired flight date. The miles required will be automatically debited from your mileage account following the reservation.

Small children (under 2 years of age) travel with you free of charge if they do not need a separate seat.

3.3. Special rules for status members
An upgrade in the next highest fare class is not possible for Companion Awards. Even if you book your upgrade award at the last minute in a period of seven to four days before departure, as a Senator or HON Circle member, no service fee will be charged for sending your upgrade award to you by express mail.
