Travel writers describe the capital city of Romania as the "Paris of the east". Bucharest and Romania have a colourful history, and this is reflected in the diversity of the architectural sights to be found here. Turkish, French and Austrian influences have all left their mark on the building culture of Bucharest. As you walk through the city, you will see monuments of different epochs and styles right next door to each other.
