Lufthansa travel reports Cologne

Belgique, c’est chique – at the heart of Cologne

Cologne’s hippest neighborhood is just a stone’s throw away from the city’s famous cathedral and its often overcrowded city center. Students, artists and other creative types get together in the Belgian quarter around Brüsseler Platz square. Shoppers here will find that quality is the motto, not quantity, with several small boutiques and shops selling unusual clothes and accessories, records or culinary delights. The neighborhood affectionately known as the “Veedel” also boasts some trendy cafés – great for a breather and a cup of coffee or more.

Erdbeeren im Winter

Erdbeeren im Winter:
Too good to be true? This boutique chose “strawberries in winter” as its name – a reference to a Grimms’ fairy tale, and the clothes, from various labels, including Affentor, Amant Maitresse, Belen Ricio, Garment and FKK, really are as fabulous as hidden fruit growing beneath a deep layer of snow.

Labude

Labude:
The years of plenty are on the way back! This is at least true of the delightfully elegant styles of the 1930s and ’50s at Labude, where fashion designer Julia Kirstein sells her own dress and accessory creations as well as a selection of articles by other designers and label.

Goldschmiede Götten:
Jewelry you can be sure no one else will be wearing: Master goldsmith Marcus Götten makes rings, necklaces, ear-rings and bracelets, each piece unique, chic and eye-catchingly colorful. Hack Lederware

Hack Lederware:
Not (only) for Bavarians and rockers: Christoph Hack sells some very wearable lederhosen. This craftman’s love of leather is something he inherited from his grandfather, a master saddler. Almost every item can be custom made, on request.
