Services for passengers with visual impairments

We’re here to help you. If you have a visual impairment, we can provide you with assistance before, during and after the flight, so that your trip is relaxed and pleasant.

Assistance on your trip

From departure to arrival at your destination airport, our targeted services are available to make travelling easier, for more safety and ensuring a pleasant flight.

lufthansa.com is accessible using widely available screen readers. The online form to register your assistance requirements is also accessible via assistive technology. If you have difficulties, we will be happy to help you by telephone.

At the airport

  • We will be happy to accompany you throughout your time at the airport if needed.
  • At the gate, we can assist you in boarding and exiting the aircraft if you wish.
  • In the event of delays or if there are changes to your trip, we can explain everything to you personally, if desired.

On board

  • Our cabin crew can provide you with a personal safety briefing.
  • If required, the crew will happily provide additional information, for example to help you find your way about the cabin.
  • If you wish, the on-board team will also describe the arrangement of the food on the tray for you.
  • The majority of our in-flight entertainment is available with audio description.

At your destination airport

  • At your destination airport, our ground crew will take over your assistance. The handover takes place automatically; you don’t have to do anything yourself.
  • We will accompany you to the airport exit. If you have a connecting flight, we will take you directly to your next gate. If you need extra assistance, please ask us.

Statutory guidelines

Passengers with a disability or reduced mobility are carried in accordance with EU Regulation No. 1107/2006 of 5 July 2006 on the rights of disabled passengers and passengers with reduced mobility.

Any passengers travelling to/from the USA are carried in accordance with the DOT provisions, Title 14, Part 382, Code of Federal Regulations, effective as of 13 May 2009.

At all our destinations in the USA, as well as in Frankfurt and Munich, you can contact specially trained Complaint Resolution Officials (CROs) during opening hours regarding issues related to your disability or reduced mobility. Our crew members or ground staff will be happy to put you in contact.
