How can I get my ticket refunded online?
First of all, please cancel your booking:
- Click on ‘My Bookings’
- Enter your surname and your booking code
- Select the booking you wish to cancel and click the ‘Cancel’ button
- Confirm your decision on the following page
If you purchased your ticket online or in a Lufthansa office the refund will happen automatically; you don’t need to take any further action.
If you purchased your ticket in a different office or travel agency, please contact the office that issued your ticket for a refund.
How much time do I have to apply for a ticket refund via LH.com?
You can apply for a refund online up to one day before departure. If it is no longer possible to request a refund online, you are welcome to telephone our Lufthansa Service Centre. The standard refund deadlines apply; these will be shown in the fare conditions for the ticket you have chosen.
I don’t have a Lufthansa account. Can I still get my Lufthansa tickets refunded online?
Yes, go into ‘My Bookings’ to see your booking summary and start the refund process by clicking the ‘Cancel’ button.
How long will it take to get my ticket refunded?
75 % of online refunds are processed within 2-3 days. Online refunds which cannot be calculated automatically may be delayed in a very few instances due to the greater effort required for manual processing as well as the final settlement through your bank. We assure you that we will process your application for a refund as quickly as possible.
If you have cancelled a booking which has been made, for example, in a travel agency and not directly with Lufthansa, please contact the place where you made your booking regarding a credit note.
I’m looking at my booking online and there is no ‘Cancel’ button displayed. Why is this?
There can be a number of different reasons for this:
- Your ticket has already been refunded.
- The next pending flight segment falls on the same day as the refund request (deadline). Please contact our Lufthansa Service Centre.
- It is a Miles & More booking (not handled via LH.com). You can find further information about obtaining a refund of a Miles & More flight award ticket at www.miles-and-more.com.
Which currencies can the refund be made in?
We will refund your ticket in the currency in which you paid for it. If you paid for your ticket in a currency other than the euro, it may take a few more days for you to receive your refund.
How do I get my money back?
The amount will be transferred to the account that you used for the ticket purchase.
I paid for my ticket in cash. Can I still obtain a refund online?
Yes, you can. The refund will be processed online and Lufthansa will contact you so that you can provide details of a bank account to which the relevant sum can be refunded.
Can I also obtain a refund of fees for rebooking, unaccompanied children, excess baggage, etc?
At the moment fees cannot be refunded online. In such cases please contact our Lufthansa Service Centre.
I booked together with other passengers. Can I get a refund just for my ticket or will that mean the other passengers’ bookings will also be cancelled?
At the moment only the full booking can be cancelled online. In this case please contact our Lufthansa Service Centre.
If I booked my ticket through a Service Centre can I cancel it online?
After cancelling my booking, can I also arrange for the price of my ticket to be refunded through my travel agency or through the Lufthansa Service Centre?
Yes, that is still possible.
Can I also cancel my ticket or get it refunded via LH.com if I didn’t buy it through a Lufthansa office?
Your booking can be cancelled via LH.com. For a refund please contact the office that originally issued the ticket.
