With Lufthansa, flying becomes an experience for the whole family that begins as soon as you arrive at the airport. At our Frankfurt and Munich hubs in particular, families are especially well looked after before boarding.
Make airport waiting times pass more quickly
The way an airport operates fascinates children: suitcases are loaded and unloaded, fuel tankers are attached to aircraft and perhaps you even get a glimpse of the pilots through the airport’s windows. That’s why we recommend you should schedule in a little more time at the airport, so that the idea of flying becomes more comprehensible and even more exciting to children. At many airports there are viewing terraces available which, in fine weather, allow even better insights into how an airport works.
If your children would prefer to play and run around, visit the play corners specifically designed for children which most airports provide. All the essential information about these can be found on the websites of your departure and destination airports. You can find out at the Lufthansa family counters at Munich and Frankfurt airports how best to spend the time at the airport with your children.
Lufthansa creates family counters at Frankfurt and Munich
Something is happening at the family counters in Frankfurt and Munich! Even from a distance children and their parents can see where they get their boarding passes and check in their baggage: a great archway with Lu and Cosmo, the two Lufthansa mascots, invites children to take part in check-in. As a family you walk along a red carpet to the counter where Lufthansa staff will take your baggage without fuss and hand you your boarding passes.
You will also be given a copy of the ‘The Family Pilot’ brochure. This contains valuable tips on the location of children’s play areas, baby changing units, family-friendly restaurants, pharmacies and the nearest viewing terrace.
The family counters are located in Frankfurt in Departure Hall B at counters 336–338 and in Munich in the departure hall at counters 423–424. The counters are open to parents and their children up to 12 years old.
Calling all kids!
Shortly before Christmas Lu and Cosmo will be visiting Frankfurt and Munich airports. If you’d like to get to know the two of them in person, now’s your chance. Lu and Cosmo will be answering all your questions and telling you about their adventures around the world.
Of course, they’re not arriving empty handed; they’ll be giving out delicious, star-shaped cinnamon biscuits, chocolates, mandarin oranges and apples.
You can meet Lu and Cosmo from
20 – 21 December at Frankfurt Airport and
22 – 23 December at Munich Airport
at the family check-in area at both airports.
Lu and Cosmo are looking forward to your visit and wish you and your family a very happy Christmas!
Frankfurt Airport lends strollers free of charge
The system is simple: in Terminal 1, strollers are available at the service point in the pre-security part of Concourse B and at information counter 10 in the B transit zone.
In Terminal 2, you can pick one up at the service point between Concourses D and E in the pre-security area. When you’re finished, you take the stroller back to where you got it. Or, if you’re departing or changing planes, you can simply leave it at the gate. Airport staff will collect it there.
Separate JetFriends children’s area in the Frankfurt Business Lounge
Children feel at ease here! Lufthansa has created its first JetFriends children’s area in the Frankfurt Business Lounge at Gate B48. Here young passengers may look forward to a play corner and playpen, to drawing tables, games consoles and an Internet PC for kids. A children’s cinema and comfortable beanbag chairs also ensure lots of fun is had even before the flight.
First and Business Class passengers, HON Circle Members, Senators, Frequent Travellers and holders of Star Gold cards have access to the lounge.
