Enjoy your flight to Stuttgart
Stuttgart is located in southern Germany in a beautiful valley surrounded by vineyards and green forests. But what it is best known for are the car manufactures Mercedes-Benz and Porsche. Stuttgart is also the capital of the big southern state of Baden-Württemberg that includes the famous Black Forest and borders to France in the west and Switzerland in the south.
From horseback to car heavenStuttgart was founded in medieval times in this exact place because the valley was perfect for breeding horses. Until today, the official city coat of arms shows a white horse on a green background, even the name means “garden of mares”. Stuttgart was the residence of various kings, dukes and counts of Württemberg, back then a rich and powerful country in the framework of the Holy Roman Empire. Over the centuries they built up Stuttgart’s fame by building mighty castles and later beautiful palaces. The New Palace in downtown Stuttgart, where the whole city meets for celebrations or just a nice day out, is a good example. Another highlight is Schloss Solitude, a pretty palace on the top of the valley overlooking the city.
But apart from the architecture, there are other things to see and do: Maybe you really came for the car factories and want to visit the spectacular museums of the car manufacturers. The funny Pig Museum in an old slaughterhouse is very entertaining as well. Here you can also try the traditional Swabian food and the great wines produced in the valley. If you get a chance and a ticket, visit a concert of the renowned Stuttgart Philharmonic Orchestra. Stuttgart also has a vibrant nightlife. Lots of clubs and bars are waiting for the mostly young party crowd. For whatever reason you come to Stuttgart, you will certainly enjoy your stay.
