For most tourists the thought of San Francisco immediately conjures up the image of the city emblem, the Golden Gate Bridge. But San Francisco has many other attractions to offer as well: travel reports, tourists and natives of San Francisco are equally enthusiastic about Lombard Street, the former prison island of Alcatraz, the authentic Fisherman’s Wharf district and other places of interest. The Californian city is a melting pot of cultures, and this is reflected not only in the vivacious mentality of the people but also in the varied cuisine. Away from the classic tourist attractions and the usual travel reports, there is much to discover in San Francisco. It is no wonder, then, that back in the 1960s Scott McKenzie was already singing the praises of San Francisco!
