Due to storm "Xaver" over Europe on Thursday, December 5th, delays or disruptions in the scheduled air traffic are expected at certain airports.
Lufthansa regrets any inconvenience to Lufthansa passengers caused by the weather situation and will do its utmost to minimise impacts on passengers.
Passenger support and service has paramount priority.
Passengers are kindly requested to check the status of their flight prior to departure.
Passengers whose flights are operating are kindly requested to come to the airport in good time.
Affected passengers are requested to check the status under My Bookings prior to departure.
Here you might find an alternative flight and be able to check-in for it.
Passengers travelling within Germany whose flights have been cancelled due to the weather may alternatively travel by train with Deutsche Bahn.
To do this, please exchange your etix for a train ticket online oder mobile under My bookings or at a Lufthansa check in machine.
If you do not have the time to exchange your ticket online or at the machine, we recommend you purchase a regular train ticket.
In this case we kindly ask for your understanding that you will then be refunded the unused portion of your ticket.
As the reason for cancellation was force majeure we are unable to provide any compensation beyond the value of the unused ticket.
Please contact your ticket issuing office after your travel for a refund of your unused ticket. You can receive current travel information under Deutsche Bahn or on your mobile phone via m.bahn.de.
Passengers that have their contact details stored, may possibly be informed by SMS or email about any changes in their itinerary.
Warning of phishing e-mail
A phishing e-mail is currently circulating. The text of this fraudulent e-mail refers to the introduction of an additional security level to prevent identity theft. Recipients are requested to click on a link and enter their e-mail address and password.
This e-mail is not trustworthy and has not been sent by Lufthansa or Miles & More. Please do not disclose any personal details if you receive it.
Airport renovation in Hanover: Lufthansa from 22 October 2013 in Terminal C
The terminal A at the airport in Hanover is closed for renovation and modernization work from 22 October 2013 to July 2014. During this time the Lufthansa check-in counters are in Terminal C.

New EU requirement concerning passport validity for non-EU citizens
Since 19 July 2013 non-EU citizens entering the Schengen Area must carry a passport with them which will be valid for at least three months after the date they leave the Schengen Area. This applies to entry to the Schengen area by non-EU citizens, with the exception of citizens from Andorra, Monaco, San Marino, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland.
For flights to the USA additional personal information musst be provided under the Secure Flight Program of the US Transportation Security Administration (TSA). This regulation also applies to overflights of US territory, i.e. flights from/to, for example, Canada, Mexico and other Central-American countries, which are scheduled to fly into US airspace.
Regulations for visa-free entry to the USA
For travel in the USA it is mandatory to register online. In addition airlines are required to carry out ESTA checks: the transport of passengers wishing to enter the USA without a visa under the Visa Waiver Program will be prohibited if passengers have not received an electronic entry permit in advance from the US authorities. Online registration is through the Electronic System for Travel Authorization - known as "ESTA" for short. Please note that without a visa or ESTA registration you will no longer be able to board your flight to the USA.
