With coming into effect, all existing ESTA-approvals will be revoked for this group of travelers, which means that US Visas will be required to enter the US for work and travel.
The US-Government currently determines to what extent travelers who have traveled after 01st March to one of the above mentioned countries, can be exempted from the restrictions.
We strongly recommend that all affected travelers inform themselves about these new requirement before travelling to the US, notwithstanding an existing ESTA approval.
Therefore, they must not be carried on flights as portable electronic devices, neither as carry-on nor checked baggage.
Lufthansa may only accept such devices for transportation if the passenger advises that there is a genuine requirement due to a medical or physical disability.
The ministries of interior of several Member States have recently introduced temporary border controls. Therefore spot checks have also to be expected for travels within Schengen-countries. Non-compliance can result in a fine and an entry ban for these countries.
In addition it has been abolished for young persons aged 12 to 15 years when travelling in economy class, on all flights departing UK airports on or after 1st March 2016.
