Ready to take-off for the future - the new Germanwings
Since the end of 2012, Germanwings has gradually been preparing for take-off on Lufthansa’s routes in Germany and Europe outside of the Frankfurt and Munich hubs. This is so that the most extensive European route network will still be available to you in the future.
From 1 July this Lufthansa Group airline will have a completely new offer for you: you will then be able to fly on flexible fares that offer outstanding value for money — and you will be able to choose the level of comfort that suits you best.

Secure Flight
Since 1 November 2010, under the Secure Flight Program of the US Transportation Security Administration (TSA), additional personal information must be provided for flights to the USA. Since 8 March 2012, this regulation has been extended to overflights of US territory, i.e. flights from/to, for example, Canada, Mexico and other Central-American countries, which are scheduled to fly into US airspace.

Regulations for visa-free entry to the USA
Since January 2009 it has been mandatory to register online for travel to the USA and since 20 March 2010 airlines are required to carry out ESTA checks: the transport of passengers wishing to enter the USA without a visa under the Visa Waiver Program will be prohibited if passengers have not received an electronic entry permit in advance from the US authorities. Online registration is through the Electronic System for Travel Authorization - known as "ESTA" for short. Please note that without a visa or ESTA registration you will no longer be able to board your flight to the USA.
