Carry-on baggage: The Economy Basic fare on short- and medium-haul flights does not include carry-on baggage. Passengers traveling on an Economy Basic fare who did not purchase a carry-on baggage item before check-in can add one during online check-in for a fee.
First bag: The Economy Basic fare on short- and medium-haul flights, as well as the Economy Light fare, do not include any free baggage allowance. Lufthansa offers the benefit of a reduced price for the first piece of checked baggage (23 kg, total dimensions 158 cm).Passengers who did not purchase an extra piece of baggage before check-in, have the option of booking one item of baggage during check-in for a fee.
Additional standard baggage: All passengers have the option of booking additional standard baggage during online check-in for a fee.
Following conditions must be fulfilled:
- Passenger must have a confirmed ticket (not waiting list bookings)
- The carry-on baggage must not exceed the dimensions of 55 × 40 × 23 cm or a weight of 8 kg
- When travelling in Economy/Premium Economy Class, baggage size must not exceed a weight of 23kg and dimensions of 158cm (H+W+D)
- When travelling in Business/First Class, baggage size must not exceed a weight of 32kg and dimensions of 158cm (H+W+D)
- Passenger checks in online more than 2 hours before departure.
- A carry-on baggage in Economy Basic Fare on short- and medium-haul flights, as well as additional baggage in all Economy fares are available to purchase on Lufthansa Group operated flights: Lufthansa, SWISS, Austrian Airlines, Brussels Airlines, Discover Airlines and Air Dolomiti.
- Once payment has been made, the bag charge cannot be refunded or offset separately.
- If ticket conditions allow a refund, the service can be refunded or changed accordingly.
- In case of an involuntary ticket change or refund, the service can be refunded or changed.
- In case of a fare upgrade to a higher fare, bag charge can be refunded.
Purchase of bag is not possible in the following instances
- Purchase of bag is restricted up to five bags. In case, more bags are needed, customer must contact the service center or to purchase additional items of baggage at the airport.
- Baggage exceeding weight and/or dimensions cannot be purchased during online check in as it will be treated as excess baggage. In case bag exceeding weight and/or dimension, customer must contact service center or purchase at the airport.
